Prawngate: Support John Abraham against Monckton’s bullying

As discussed in Episode 3 (28:15 for the relevant bit), John Abraham of St. Thomas University delivered a devastating debunking of Monckton. Monckton initially replied by claiming ad hominem, while launching into ad hominem in the same sentence:

So unusual is this attempt actually to meet us in argument, and so venomously ad hominem are Abraham’s artful puerilities, delivered in a nasal and irritatingly matey tone (at least we are spared his face — he looks like an overcooked prawn), that climate-extremist bloggers everywhere have circulated them and praised them to the warming skies.

Hence the name Prawngate

But now Monckton has gone a step further, asking people to flood Abraham’s university with emails demanding it start a disciplinary inquiry, and threatening to launch a lawsuit. (see here for more).

While Monckton, and his ilk should not be taken seriously, their attempts to silence critics and infringe on their academic freedom must be. That is why I encourage everyone to sign the petition organized by Gareth at Hot Topic, and join the Facebook group.

  1. Moncton has released a VERY long re-rebuttal at I would like to see a response to this since most of it, though bathed in condescending puerility is substance oriented. basically he says Abraham purposefully misconstrued and left out parts that created an innacurate impression of his actual points. Much of it is clearly legalistic nitpicking, but some does makes sense.
